European Eco-label

The European Eco-label is used to mark textile products having little impact on the environment during all phases of their life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials up to disposal. Special consideration is given to energy consumption, water and air pollution as well as waste prevention.

Öko-Tex Standard 100

The Öko-Tex Standard 100 label guarantees consumers that no critical amounts of harmful substances are contained in products awarded this label.

Öko-Tex Standard 100 defines which substances are excluded or restricted. Accordingly, the catalogue of criteria includes all substances that are subject to the Öko-Tex inspection system:

• Prohibited azo dyestuffs
• Formaldehyde
• Pesticides
• Carcinogenic and sensitising dyestuffs
• Heavy metals
• Colour fastness
• pH
• Tin-organic compounds
• Smell

All in all, the catalogue of criteria contains 100 individual substances or compounds of critical substances. It also provides information about permissible concentrations in which those substances may occur. Harmlessness to humans is the measure used in this respect.

A renewal of the certificate has to be obtained from the certifying body for checking purposes.

Wolle aus Deutschland

Wool made in Germany - with this motto, an initiative of the German wool industry wants to strengthen consumer awareness of local products. The seal documents the way of the wool from the shepherd to the consumer. Separate identification allows complete traceability of the wool at all the participating companies.

Zwickauer Kammgarn GmbH participates in the initiative and processes the wool from the sheep of the nature reserve area BiosphäreAlb in Southern Germany into yarn.

On customer's request Zwickauer Kammgarn produces yarns of this wool.
